Meet Jeni

My Story

Hi, I’m Jeni Phipps, owner of On the Go Vacations in Portland, Texas.

I didn’t start out in travel. I spent the first part of my career in corporate America, in a completely different field. Travel was always the thing I planned, saved for and talked about. Thirteen years ago, I turned that passion into my career, and I’ve never looked back.

Today I help travelers across the country plan trips they’ll talk about for years. I plan every kind of vacation, but my heart is in luxury ocean and river cruises, Alaska and Europe.

I Go So I Can Tell You What It’s Really Like

I took my first Alaska cruise mostly so I could describe it better to my clients. I’ll be honest: I hate cold weather, and I didn’t expect to love it. I was wrong. The scenery was breathtaking, the wildlife was unforgettable, and Alaska became one of my favorite places to send travelers.

That’s why I travel as much as I do. I’ve explored the Ring of Kerry and County Clare in Ireland, crossed the Atlantic by ship, sailed the Atlantic coast of Canada during peak fall foliage, cruised the Panama Canal, and visited more of the Caribbean and Central America than I can count. In Iceland, I even watched a volcano erupt, then unwound in the country’s famous geothermal lagoons. When I recommend a ship, a cabin or a port, it’s because I’ve seen it for myself or know it well.

How I Work

Every trip starts with a conversation. I want to know how you like to travel: the pace you enjoy, what makes a trip feel special to you, and what you’d rather skip.

From there, I match you with the right cruise line, ship or itinerary, and I handle the details: cabins, excursions, transfers, upgrades, travel insurance and the little touches that make a trip feel effortless. If anything changes before or during your trip, you call me, not a call center.
